Akshaya Bhargava,

Vice President, Assets, Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses

Akshaya Bhargava is the vice president of assets for Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (CEB). He is responsible for the growth and profitability of CEB’s renewable and battery energy storage portfolio of more than 4 GW. Akshaya has been a lead member of the team that has closed on transactions worth more than $10 billion, growing the business from startup to the second-largest solar energy owner and operator in North America and a leader in C&I and utility-scale battery storage.

Akshaya is a skilled negotiator who maximizes value for CEB. He has raised $4 billion in investment-grade debt and tax equity, led negotiations of the $1.6 billion acquisition of the 980 MW Sempra Energy solar portfolio, and secured the battery energy storage systems (BESS) contracts for off-take, procurement, and installation of over 1500 MWh. 

Akshaya has been with the Con Edison family of companies for more than 20 years. Akshaya currently oversees a team of professionals in development, project management, construction management, and finance, who in turn manage construction contractors at more than 150 CEB sites nationwide. Charged with expanding and upgrading utility-scale and behind-the-meter assets, Akshaya and his team have been developing clean energy resources for more than a decade. They have a record of delivering projects on time and on budget. The value created has resulted in industry-leading portfolio expansion.

Previously, Akshaya was an assistant manager at Reliance Industries Limited in Mumbai. He managed a multidisciplinary team including union workers in a petrochemical plant, optimizing daily production while ensuring safe and reliable operations.

Akshaya earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and his MBA with a specialization in finance from the Smith School at the University of Maryland where he was awarded the Texaco scholarship. He is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and a member of CFA Society New York.
