Vice President, Information Technology and PMO, Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses
Nelly Jefferson is the vice president of information technology and project management office (PMO) for Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (CEB). Nelly joined CEB in 2017 shortly after its restructuring, and designed and built the IT, cybersecurity, and PMO protocols for the newly-formed company. Nelly’s visionary approach has proven to be agile, secure, and immensely scalable. CEB is a successful hybrid workplace and has grown from startup to the second-largest solar energy owner and operator in North America.
Nelly customized an IT operating model to best support the CEB headquarters in Valhalla, NY, the six regional offices, and the more than 150 operating assets nationwide. She fosters a cybersecurity culture where everyone has accountability. Nelly has implemented project management solutions across all business functions to provide better visibility into project demands and data. She oversees the latest training and support to drive data accuracy, security, quality control, usability, and value. Nelly has seamlessly integrated IT systems for acquired assets and partnerships.
Nelly has more than 25 years of experience leading IT transformations in utilities. She was the director of business systems delivery for Con Edison’s regulated, business services, gas, and steam businesses; the vice president of corporate systems for Selective Insurance; the manager of IT delivery for PSE&G; and the director of information systems for Elizabethtown Water Company, now American Water. Nelly launched her career in IT as a systems engineer for Electronic Data Systems, where she graduated from its prestigious Systems Engineering Development program.
Nelly is the past president, and the first female president, of the New Jersey Society of Information Management (NJSIM), an association of executives, academics, consultants, and other IT thought leaders from the New Jersey metropolitan area. A long-standing member, Nelly previously served as NJSIM’s executive vice president, vice president of programs, and treasurer. Nelly is also a member of the Project Management Institute.
Nelly earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Montclair State University and a master’s degree in information systems from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® and a graduate of the Con Edison Business Academy, XVIII.
